Privacy Policy

How TinyTask and thetinytask.com handle your data – written in plain language, not legalese.

Last updated: March 5, 2026

The short version: TinyTask (the software) collects zero data – it never connects to the internet. This website (thetinytask.com) uses cookies for analytics and advertising. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

1. Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to two distinct things:

  • thetinytask.com – this website, including all pages, download links, and blog content
  • TinyTask – the macro recording software (version 1.77 and all prior versions) distributed through this website

We separate these because they behave very differently when it comes to data. The website collects standard web analytics and serves advertisements. The software itself collects absolutely nothing.

By using this website, you agree to the data practices described below. If you only download and use TinyTask without visiting the website again, no ongoing data collection occurs on our end.

2. TinyTask Software Privacy

TinyTask is a 36 KB portable executable that runs entirely on your local machine. Here is what the software does and does not do:

No Internet Connection
TinyTask never connects to the internet. It has no networking code, no update checker, and no telemetry endpoint.
No Data Collection
The software does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information, usage statistics, or system details.
Local Storage Only
Recorded macros (.rec files) are saved wherever you choose on your computer. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
No Registry Changes
TinyTask writes nothing to the Windows registry. Delete the EXE and all traces of the program are gone.

Macro recordings may contain sensitive data. TinyTask records mouse coordinates and keystrokes. If you record yourself typing a password or navigating to a private page, that information is stored in the .rec file. Keep your .rec files secure and do not share them publicly if they contain sensitive sequences.

3. Website Data Collection

When you visit thetinytask.com, we collect the following types of information:

  • Referral source – the website or search engine that brought you here
  • Pages visited – which pages you view and how long you spend on each
  • Timestamps – date and time of your visit
  • Language preference – your browser’s language setting

Voluntarily Provided Data

If you use our contact form, you voluntarily provide your name, email address, and message content. We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry and do not add it to any marketing list or share it with third parties.

5. Advertising

This website displays advertisements through Google AdSense to support free access to TinyTask downloads and content. Google AdSense may use cookies and web beacons to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other websites.

Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your browsing history. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings page.

We do not have direct access to the cookies placed by Google AdSense. Google’s handling of data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

We do not run pop-up ads, pop-under ads, or auto-playing video ads. Ad placements are limited to standard display and in-article positions that do not interfere with your ability to download TinyTask or read content.

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with thetinytask.com. This helps us improve content, identify technical issues, and understand which pages are most useful.
